Federal Budget Cuts Could Have Serious Consequences for Michigan
The Detroit News reports that Congress' plan to cut up to $50 billion from federal programs threatens tens of thousands of Michigan families who receive Medicaid, food stamps and help in collecting child support. The cuts could mean up to $1 billion less headed to Michigan over the next five years and force some difficult choices for state leaders
Comments:
These cuts shouldn't affect Michigan as much as they make it sound. What Michigan isn't telling the folks is that the loss stems from them trying to provide Title IV-D welfare services to the middle-class and wealthy. These budget cuts are welcomed because it will prompt the removal of the middle-class and wealthy out of Title IV-D welfare programs.

In Michigan, Title IV-D welfare services are provided almost exclusively by the various County Friend of the Courts through cooperative agreements. They are being rewarded through Title IV-D for higher participation numbers due to no restrictions on participation or eligibility requirements like all other welfare programs like Title IV-A (TANF/AFDC). Hopefully we can pull out the people that don't belong in the program and stop trying to provide welfare to the affluent at U.S. tax payer expense. # posted by Lary Holland : 10:21 PM << Home |
