Northwest Ruling Could Lead to Strike, Liquidation
The Detroit News reports that a bankruptcy judge is expected to rule by Friday whether Northwest Airlines can impose more than $500 million in wage and benefit concessions. The pilots and flight attendents unions have threatened to strike and Northwest has threatened liquidation if the ruling goes against them. Detroit is the airline's largest hub with 491 daily departures and 8,000 employees.
