The Lansing State Journal has brief profiles on the 2006 inductees for the Michigan Journalism Hall of Fame have been selected. They are

• Mary Lou Butcher ... whose sex-discrimination suit in the
  70s is credited with changing how gender impacted assignments, also a
  member of the Michigan Women's Hall of Fame.


• William Cote, a longtime reporter who became an MSU journalism professor at Michigan State, started the Capital News Service and MSU's Victims in the Media Program.


• Ed Kearney of WLUC-TV in Negaunee who wrote pioneering drunk driving stories.


• Flint radio newsman Les Root (AM-1570)



• Automotive News senior editor John Teahen Jr.
