The Last "Bad Economic News for Michigan" Forecast We'll Post ...

The Lansing State Journal reports that Michigan's leading economists warned Thursday that more tough times lie ahead: more plant closings, more layoffs, fewer jobs - at least through 2007. State officials project Michigan's unemployment rate will average 7.1 percent this year and next (up nearly 1% from November 2005). Regarding auto industry predictions, Sean McAlinden, chief economist for the Center for Automotive Research said: "GM will soon become the size of Ford; Ford will become the size of Chrysler, and Chrysler, thank God, will stay the size of Chrysler."
