Michigan's Rural Areas Provide Almost 2x the Military Recruits
The Detroit News reports that military records show that Michigan's military recruits come disproportionately from the state's most rural areas. In Michigan's 45 most rural counties (60% of people living in rural areas) about 7 of every 1,000 young people ages 18-24 enlisted last year compared to 4 of every 1,000 in urban areas.
