State Biomass Energy Program Offers Funding The Michigan Biomass Energy Program (MBEP) is offering financial assistance to public and non-profit organizations to support workshops or events that increase public awareness about energy or fuel derived from Michigan biomass resources. Biomass is any organic matter available on a renewable basis, such as agricultural crops and crop residues, wood and wood waste, and municipal solid waste. US 2 to be Heavily Patrolled This Summer The Soo Evening News has a piece that will be of interest to those planning on driving in the Upper Peninsula this summer. The stretch of US-2 from St. Ignace to Rapid River has developed a reputation as "The Highway of Death" due to frequent fatalities.
